I came across two articles that should help me define or operationalize blogs in my dissertation.
In Grohol (2002) and Herring (n.d.), blogs are described as a one-to-many tool. This is the case when the blogger writes for a known or unknown audience and also when a member of that audience makes a comment to a blog entry.
With the limited audience that some blogs get, perhaps the tool is one-to-few. I see blogs also as one-to-self tools if they are used as personal journals.
