I have started thinking about the benefits and constraints of having our own blog server versus using a public blog provider (such as Blogger or Live Journal). In this table, I have considered cost, ease of set up, customizability, and integration with existing tools.
The factor that I need to discuss most thoroughly with the PIHnet PIs is whether or not the blog should be standalone or integrated. A standalone blog tool might enforce the idea that blogs are personal and therefore promote ownership among users. However, having a separate tool might not be as convenient as a "one-stop shop" of tools.
