Literature: Pros of blogging (Part 3)

The nature of the learning activity can determine whether blogs or discussion forums are more suitable. An potential advantage that blogs have over discussion forums in group projects is that the former offer a journal of progress while the latter merely collect “ephemeral comments” (website http://www.earlham.edu/~markp/sls/techie_blog.htm in Russell and Pearson, 2004). This makes monitoring group activity easier in blogs because the entries are time/date stamped and content is presented linearly instead of a tree.
